ARUDEKO, the textile studio she co-founded with her sister Denisse in 2016, is based in Mexico City and reflects their shared mission to preserve ancestral weaving methods while exploring new creative directions in design. The studio collaborates closely with artisan weavers from Oaxaca, specializing in pedal loom techniques and natural dyeing processes to create custom textile pieces for interior design, residential, and hospitality projects. As Creative Director, Nailea oversees visual identity, collection development, and supplier management, playing a key role in the strategic decision-making and creative direction of the brand.
The studio is recognized for seamlessly blending artisanal techniques with contemporary aesthetics, producing handcrafted rugs, cushions, and textile pieces tailored to specific interior environments. Among their most notable projects are custom rugs for Spotify’s Mexico City headquarters, developed in collaboration with artist Hola Lou; bespoke textile installations for the Etéreo Resort by Auberge Resorts Collection in the Riviera Maya; and bed runners and decorative pillows for the Numu Hotel by Hyatt in San Miguel de Allende.
Nailea is recognized for her initiative, adaptability, and attention to detail, as well as her ability to lead cross-functional teams and foster strong client relationships. With over eight years of experience as a freelance creative director and entrepreneur, she continues to explore how design can tell stories, connect people, and honor cultural heritage in a modern context. Through ARUDEKO, she remains committed to empowering artisans, promoting sustainable practices, and enriching spaces with textiles that are as meaningful as they are beautiful.
“Domus Academy gave me the confidence and tools to bring my creative vision to life. The project-based structure and global environment pushed me to explore, sharpen, and own my perspective as a designer. It was a foundational experience that still shapes how I approach creative direction and collaboration today.”
