The Summer Course in Digital Communication & Social Media for Fashion – from Strategy to Creators will be a complete introduction to the use of social media as a job tool in the fields of contemporary fashion and design.

THE COURSE

A summer course made up of 60 hours with a mix of theoretical lessons, field trips and practical workshops.

Students will be introduced to different approaches that define how to work on digital fashion campaigns. From digital communication to strategy, they will learn how to build a consistent message around brands. In addition, they will work on fundamental social media tools to define a strong storytelling: from editorial plans to influencers and creators, students will learn how to identify trends and include them in their integrated digital communication.

WHO SHOULD APPLY

The summer course is addressed to:

  • students in their last years of an undergraduate programme
  • postgraduate students
  • recent graduates

The programme is also open to candidates with a background in other disciplines if they are motivated by a strong interest in the topic.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Participants will be able to:

  • ideate social media strategies for brands
  • create consistent editorial plans for different platforms
  • identify trends and develop the digital communication around them

At the end of the course participants will get a DOMUS ACADEMY CERTIFICATE and 4 ECTS* credits.

* ECTS credits will be indicated in the final transcript upon successful completion of a course, but will be transferred at the option of each student’s home university

GIANFRANCO OLIVOTTO

After earning his bachelor’s degree in modern languages and literatures at the University of Catania, Gianfranco Olivotto moved to London, where he worked as a visual merchandiser for the Benetton Group. Back in Italy, he worked on projects with Dolce & Gabbana, Mantero Seta, and Juicy Couture. In 2000, Olivotto worked on the launch of Neil Barrett’s first collection and then served as head of the company’s public relations and press department until 2004.

In 2005, Olivotto co-founded a visual merchandising and branding agency that worked with fashion brands such as La Perla, Ralph Lauren, Borsalino, John Varvatos, developing the projects related to retail and visual communication. In 2012, Olivotto joined Domus Academy as Programme Leader of the Master in Fashion Design and Master in Fashion Styling & Visual Merchandising.

CHIARA MONATERI

Digital Content Specialist, Journalist and Screen/Video Writer and Director, Chiara Monateri after a master’s degree in Milano has spent most of her professional life in New York City and London to then relocate in the recent years to Milano.

She is specialised in luxury brands from the fashion, travel and food & beverage industries, and in big entertainment networks and broadcasters. Among her clients there have been MTV, Luxottica, Net-A-Porter, Sky, Etro, Barcelo Hotels, Gieves & Hawkes, Matthew Williamson, Anya Hindmarch, San Pellegrino Waters, Endemol Shine Group, Discovery Channel.
