Second Skin: A New Agenda for Façadism Workshop
Project in Collaboration with Dott.Gallina S.r.l.

Redesigning the façade of home to improve its energy-saving performance.
Using a case study of a fictional lot in Iowa, USA, students redesigned the façade of a generic one-family residence to improve its energy-saving performance. Students considered the façade’s composition (insulation, air chambers, transparency or opacity, etc.) as well as the façade’s role as a two-dimensional skin. The cladding system will be based on the catalogue of polycarbonate panels for façades by the firm Dott.Gallina S.r.l., a leading company in this market.
