A building co-designed by Gianandrea Barreca, scientific advisor of the Master in Urban Vision & Archiectural Design at Domus Academy, won a prestigious international architecture award. The Bosco Verticale, a residential high-rise built in the Porta Nuova area of Milan, received the International Highrise Award 2014–2015. This award is given every two years to the planners and developers of the most beautiful and innovative skyscraper in the world.

Initiated in 2003 by the City of Frankfurt, the German Architecture Museum, and DekaBank, the International Highrise Award honors buildings of exemplary external shape and internal spatial qualities, as well as social aspects and sustainability.

The Bosco Verticale was designed by Boeri Studio (Stefano Boeri, Gianandrea Barreca, Giovanni La Varra). The designers were jointly awarded a statuette and € 50,000.
