“Coming from Latvia and after completing a Master’s degree in Architecture in the Netherlands, moving to Milan represented an opportunity to explore creativity from a completely different perspective.

My experience at Domus Academy has been one of growth, discovery, and creative exploration. I was particularly drawn to Domus Academy because of its practical, industry-oriented approach. The program combines theoretical knowledge with real-world projects and collaborations, creating an environment that feels closely connected to the realities of the creative industries.

One of the aspects I value most is the opportunity to collaborate with people from different countries, cultures, and professional backgrounds. Working within such an international environment has challenged me to adapt, communicate, and see creativity through different perspectives.

What I have enjoyed most throughout this journey has been learning from the teaching staff and industry professionals. Their experience, insights, and passion have continuously inspired me and helped me expand my understanding of fashion, branding, visual communication, and creative direction.

My decision to move from architecture into Fashion Styling & Visual Merchandising came from a long-standing curiosity about storytelling, emotions, and human expression. In architecture, I was always interested in creating atmosphere and shaping feelings through space.

Through fashion, styling, and visual storytelling, I discovered another way to explore identity, culture, and emotion. Today, I see my work as a hybrid form of storytelling that combines the spatial thinking of architecture with the emotional and cultural dimensions of fashion. I feel that Domus Academy has helped me develop this vision and given me the tools to bring these disciplines together in a meaningful way.

Beyond the academy itself, Milan has played a fundamental role in my experience. Participating in Design Week projects, creating installations, visiting fashion shows, museums, private villas, and discovering creative industries beyond fashion, including the world of perfumery, has continuously expanded my perspective and inspired new ideas.

For me, Milan is a city of discovery. The more curious, active, and open-minded you are, the more opportunities the city reveals. My time here has shown me that some of the most valuable experiences often come from stepping outside your comfort zone and embracing unexpected opportunities.”
