Domus Academy at Futures4Europe Conference 2026
Domus Academy will join Futures4Europe Conference 2026, taking place in Rome on September 30 and October 1, contributing a design perspective to the European conversation on foresight and possible futures.
Representing the Academy, Silvio Cioni, Academic Director, and Giovanni Caruso, Head of the School of Design, will present two contributions exploring how worldbuilding, embodied practices and collective sense-making can support the imagination, experience and evaluation of future scenarios.

Representing the Academy, Silvio Cioni, Academic Director, and Giovanni Caruso, Head of the School of Design, will present two contributions exploring how worldbuilding, embodied practices and collective sense-making can support the imagination, experience and evaluation of future scenarios.
As part of the conference programme, they will present:
- Giovanni Caruso, Head of the School of Design at Domus Academy — “Bringing Design Futures into Space. Worldbuilding as a collective practice for imagining societal futures”, exploring worldbuilding as a collective Design Futures practice for giving form to possible societal scenarios and opening them up to shared imagination and discussion.
- Silvio Cioni, Academic Director of Domus Academy — “Embodied Futures in Practice: Public Staging as a Method for Collective Sense-Making and Scenario Evaluation”, investigating public staging and embodied approaches as methods for collectively experiencing, interpreting and evaluating future scenarios.

Under the theme “Daring to imagine otherwise,” Futures4Europe Conference 2026 brings together the European foresight community to explore the role of imagination in addressing uncertainty and opening up alternative perspectives on the future.
The second edition of the conference gathers foresight practitioners, researchers, policymakers, innovators, artists and creative professionals, creating a space for exchange across disciplines and approaches to futures thinking.
Through the participation of Cioni and Caruso, Domus Academy contributes to this conversation through the lens of design and Design Futures, exploring how design practices can make future scenarios tangible, experiential and open to collective exploration.
