The Master in Visual Brand Design aims to form effective, dynamic, and versatile visual brand designers and brand managers who are open to visionary innovations.
You will learn to identify a company’s core philosophy, cultivate a deep understanding of its products and services, and design innovative ways to communicate the company’s brand values and story to its customers through physical, digital, and social media.

Who Should Apply
The program is addressed to candidates who have a first-level degree and/or professional experience in visual and graphic design, product design, or communication.
It is also open to candidates who hold a degree/diploma in marketing or the humanities, if they are motivated by interest in visual brand design and a strong portfolio.
All courses are taught in English. A high level of proficiency in the English language is required.
Graduates can find employment and freelance opportunities with companies and organizations in the fields of fashion, design, marketing, advertising, services, traditional and digital media, public administration, and more.

EXPLORE THE PROGRAMME
The Master’s in Visual Brand Design programme is workshop-based, supported by seminars, lectures, tutorials, and fieldwork. Industry professionals, the programme leader, and project leaders will guide you via individual coaching and mentorship.
The combination of accredited coursework and real-life professional projects gives students the opportunity to build on their academic foundation, while gaining valuable work experience directly applicable to their future careers.
Students can apply to the Academic Master’s Programme, accredited by the Italian Ministry of Education, or to the Master of Arts degree with an international UK validation.
ACADEMIC MASTER'S PROGRAMME
Graduates of the Academic Master’s Programmes earn a degree that is recognised throughout Europe and the world, receiving an Academic Master’s Degree (60 ECTS credits) accredited by the Italian Ministry of Universities and Research (MUR)**, in addition to a Domus Academy Master’s Diploma.
The programme consists of 5 modules, including a curricular internship and a final project workshop.
** The academic Master’s Degree is awarded by NABA, Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti.
INTERNATIONAL DOUBLE AWARD MASTER’S
From September 2021, Domus Academy will expand the offering for students with the addition of a double award master’s programme path. This will enable student to obtain an Academic Master’s Degree validated by the Italian MUR and a Master of Arts degree, with an international UK validation from Regent’s University London*.
Students will be able to integrate the current master programme path consisting of 5 modules including a curricular internship and a final project workshop with additional classes and a more in-depth individual final project.
The UK validation will give students a more international recognition of their study path and the possibility to gain a Master of Arts Degree (90 ECTS) issued by Regent’s University London that will enable them to access to the majority of international PhD programmes.

Coursework focuses on gaining hands-on experience with a wide range of visual design tools and techniques, learning to identify a company’s core philosophy, and designing innovative ways to communicate the company’s brand values, story, and tone.
Guided by industry professionals and faculty project leaders, you will work with leading companies on practical projects such as helping to develop the global brand identity of a company or product line using narrative design tools such as storytelling, storyboards, and video.
To gain real experience working in your field, you will choose from an internship at a company site, a work project on campus in collaboration with a company, or an entrepreneurship module. In each case, you will benefit from mentorship, an inside perspective on your field, and valuable career connections.
Several prestigious companies and design studios collaborate with the Master in Visual Brand Design program, actively participating in courses, workshops, internships, and international competitions organized by the department.

Meet your faculty
Your Program Leader
Elisa Chiodo received her Ph.D. in Communication Design cum laude in 2013 from the Politecnico’s School of Design. During her studies, she interned at Stockholm University’s MobileLife Research Centre and at Harvard’s metaLAB and presented her research findings at conferences.
Elisa works as a freelance consultant specializing in the concept, development, and management of communication projects that offer strong and engaging brand experiences. For more than eight years, she collaborated with the Master in Communication Design course at the Politecnico di Milano. She joined the faculty of Domus Academy in 2016. She is the program leader of the Master’s Programmes in Visual Brand Design and Business Design.

The Master in Visual Brand Design at Domus Academy involves the following costs, in addition to the payment of a degree fee to be paid within one month before the course start date, equal to € 540 for the Academic Master’s Programme and € 650 for the Master’s of Arts.
