Prototyping Ideas – Utopia

On September 4 at Base Milano, a new element within Domus Academy’s master’s programs came to life. “Prototyping Ideas” is a series of talks on design by globally recognized designers, theorists, and intellectuals. After each talk, students will work in teams to define and develop prototypes of concepts within workshops organized in collaboration with renowned brands and innovative startups.
Participating in a panel discussion were Alice Rawsthorn (award-winning design critic and the author of several books on design), Alexander Groves (artist and co-founder of Studio Swine), Peter Lang (expert in Italian radical design and architecture), and Bruce Sterling (futurist and science fiction writer). They discussed the theme of “Utopia” in the current and future world of design.
As guest designers, Matteo Cibic (Matteo Cibic Studio), Licia Florio and Francio Ferrari (The F Shoes); Francesco Franchi (designer and editor of La Repubblica), Francesca Lanzavecchia (Lanzavecchia + Wai), and Daniele Bortotto (Zanellato/Bortotto), commented on the prototypes that students created during the afternoon workshops and offered their own visions about the future of design.
Mark your calendars for the next event! “Prototyping Ideas – Local” on October 30th @BaseMilano
