Behind the scenes of Vogue World: Milano Fashion Week 2026

Vogue World

On September 22, students from the Master in Fashion Styling & Visual Merchandising took part in Vogue World: Milano 2026: a first-hand experience behind the scenes of one of the most anticipated events on the international fashion calendar.

Vogue World

Held on the opening day of Milan Fashion Week, the fifth edition of Vogue World transformed the iconic Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II into a global stage celebrating Italian fashion, craftsmanship and creativity.

After previous editions in New York, London, Paris and Los Angeles, Vogue World arrived in Milan for the first time, bringing together some of the most influential figures in contemporary fashion and culture.

Under the theme “The Human Touch in the Age of Technology”, Vogue World: Milano explored the dialogue between heritage and innovation, highlighting the enduring role of human creativity and craftsmanship in an increasingly technology-driven world.

Through a five-act show, the event brought together fashion, performance, music and technology. Some of the leading names in Italian fashion – including Valentino, Giorgio Armani, Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci, Fendi, Ferragamo, Bottega Veneta and Prada – contributed special creations to the show’s finale.

The event also brought together leading designers and creative directors such as Miuccia Prada, Donatella Versace and Alessandro Michele, alongside international personalities from fashion, music, cinema, sport and performance. Jennifer Lopez, Cardi B, Alicia Keys, Naomi Campbell, Gigi Hadid, Vittoria Ceretti and Roberto Bolle were among the figures who took part in or attended the event, reflecting the close relationship between fashion and contemporary culture.

The choice of Milan was particularly significant. As one of the world’s leading fashion capitals, the city combines the presence of internationally recognised fashion houses with a wider ecosystem of designers, artisans, manufacturers, stylists, photographers, editors, buyers and creative professionals.

During Milan Fashion Week, this ecosystem becomes even more visible, as the city welcomes the international fashion community through runway shows, presentations, exhibitions and cultural events.

For students preparing to enter the fashion industry, studying in Milan means being close to this professional network and having the opportunity to experience fashion beyond the classroom. Fashion Week is not only a showcase for established brands, but a moment in which different roles and disciplines come together, offering a unique perspective on how the industry works from the inside.

Domus Academy students joined the Vogue World backstage team as dressers, supporting the preparation and execution of the show. A selected group was also involved in the fitting process in the days leading up to the event, working alongside the professional teams responsible for bringing a production of this scale to life.

The experience offered students the opportunity to understand the complexity, pace and collaborative nature of a major international fashion event from within. More than observing the industry at work, they became part of it – applying their skills in a professional environment and contributing their talent, commitment and attention to detail.

This experience reflects Domus Academy’s learning by designing approach, connecting education with the professional world and creating opportunities for students to engage directly with the people, processes and challenges shaping contemporary fashion.
