Student Selected to Participate in UN Course

Nancy Kumar, a student in Domus Academy’s Master in Interaction Design program, was selected to participate in the United Nations ITC Communication for Development course. Arts Thread, “the launchpad for new creatives,” chose Nancy thanks to her group project The Logical Indian.
Nancy and four friends started The Logical Indian on Facebook in 2014 as an initiative to make people aware of the current political situation in India. As Nancy describes it, “The Logical Indian features handpicked, newsworthy stories which deserve the attention of a rational generation. It is an independent and public-spirited digital news platform for Indian Millennials.”
The initiative’s Facebook page has reached 60 million followers. “Contributing to society to bring change is something I have enjoyed a lot,” says Nancy. As a creative lead for the project, she uses a strategic design approach to connect psychologically with the audience.
Thanks to the interest generated by this project, Nancy will have the opportunity to take part in the United Nations ITC Communication for Development course for creatives, which will take place at the Turin Training Center June 12–15. Participants will work with United Nations teams to help on-the-ground professionals develop communication skills for creating social change.
Congratulations, Nancy!
