Moulage: Fashion Through Fabric and Form

Experience the art of moulage during Domus Academy Open Week and discover fashion design through hands-on creative experimentation.

Moulage: Fashion Through Fabric and Form

On 28 October 2026, Domus Academy will host a Moulage Workshop on campus during its Open Week, organised in connection with Fashion Graduate Italia 2026.

Open to aspiring fashion students and curious creatives, the workshop offers an opportunity to learn from fashion professionals, explore Domus Academy’s spaces and experience its approach to design through hands-on experimentation.

Moulage is a fashion design technique that involves draping fabric directly on a mannequin to create three-dimensional forms. Instead of starting with a flat pattern, designers shape, pin and adjust the fabric on the body, exploring how it falls, folds and moves.

This process allows designers to test volumes and proportions as they work. The fabric becomes a starting point for developing ideas and discovering new silhouettes.

Led by Ali Karami, Domus Academy Fashion Lab Specialist, the workshop explores the relationship between body, fabric, space and communication. Following a live demonstration, participants will drape fabric on mannequins, experimenting freely with shapes and volumes to express their ideas.

No previous experience is required, just curiosity and a passion for fashion. For those considering studying fashion, it is an opportunity to experience Domus Academy’s hands-on approach to learning.

The workshop takes place during Domus Academy’s Open Week, from 26 to 30 October 2026. Visitors can explore the campus, discover its creative spaces and get a closer look at the school as they consider their next step in design or fashion.

Discover what you can create with fabric, form and imagination.

Join us at Domus Academy on 28 October 2026. Book your place to experiment with moulage and explore the campus during Open Week.
