The event will consist of a 6-day exhibition of projects’ prototype developed by the schools involved plus one day event on 18th April that will uncover pitches about the research carried by each institution and an evening talk with pivotal figures in the design world.

The venture started in September 2023, when Domus Academy decided to challenge all the Cumulus Association Member Institutions with a call for participation around the compelling theme of ‘Simplexity in Design’. Amongst more than 300 Institutions, the chosen universities have been: BAU College of Arts and Design Barcelona (Spain), College for Creative Studies Detroit (USA), Nottingham Trent University (UK), Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava (Slovakia), Strate Ecole de Design (France), Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (China).

Launching this topic, Domus Academy wished to explore the delicate balance between simplicity and complexity in design research and practice, where complex problems are often ingeniously solved through novel combinations of simple techniques. This unique event brings together different students and researchers across the world, giving wide, deep and multifaceted visions of the same challenge.

The exhibition and the event will take place in the fascinating frame of BASE Milano, a must-see venue at the core of the historical Tortona Design District, that gather during Milan Design weeks an average of more than 50.000 unique visitors.
