THE COURSE

A 15-week journey into Visual Brand Design that will lead you to join selected theoretical courses with professionals, active learning sessions and workshops working in international and cross disciplinary teams and taking advantage of many networking occasions.

WHO SHOULD APPLY

Participants are expected to have a first level academic degree or a previous professional experience in the related field of study.

IELTS 5.0 certificate or equivalent is required.

All courses are taught in English. A high level of proficiency in the English language is required.

COURSE STRUCTURE

The Semester Course structure is organized in two modules.

Each module includes one theoretical course and one workshop in the specific area of interest.

1st INTAKE

VISUAL CULTURES – Theoretical Course
Visual Cultures explores the fundamentals of visual culture through testimonials and design scenarios. The course offers a deeper understanding of the graphic design process through the management of visual elements.

PRODUCT STRATEGY – Workshop
The Product Strategy workshop aims to develop project proposals able to combine different approaches in a new, innovative and surprising way.

PERSONAL BRANDING: VISUAL PORTFOLIO & SOCIAL BRAND IDENTITY – Theoretical Course
The course explores advanced competencies and abilities for the identification, creation, and management of the student’s professional identity with different targets: design a portfolio, deliver a speech, prepare and handle a job interview.

IDENTITY DESIGN – Workshop
The Identity Design workshop aims at developing the skills for designing the brand identity of a company,extend a
pre-existent one and/or planning a promotional strategy.

2nd INTAKE

PERSONAL BRANDING – Theoretical Course
The Personal Branding course explores advanced competencies and abilities for the identification, creation, and management of the student’s professional identity with different targets.

IDENTITY DESIGN – Workshop
The Identity Design workshop aims at developing the skills for designing the brand identity of a company, extend a pre-existent one and/or planning a promotional strategy.

STORYTELLING & VISUAL NARRATIVE – Theoretical Course
The course provides an intensive exploration of visual and structural elements of storytelling and visual narratives where students engage with the necessary tools to design a user experience and to create user scenarios and storyboards.

PRODUCT STRATEGY – Workshop
The Product Strategy workshop aims to develop project proposals able to combine different approaches in a new, innovative and surprising way.

Elisa Chiodo received her Ph.D. in Communication Design cum laude in 2013 from the Politecnico’s School of Design. During her studies, she interned at Stockholm University’s MobileLife Research Centre and at Harvard’s metaLAB and presented her research findings at conferences.

Semester in Visual Brand Design

Elisa Chiodo received her Ph.D. in Communication Design cum laude in 2013 from the Politecnico’s School of Design. During her studies, she interned at Stockholm University’s MobileLife Research Centre and at Harvard’s metaLAB and presented her research findings at conferences.

Elisa works as a freelance consultant specializing in the concept, development, and management of communication projects that offer strong and engaging brand experiences. For more than eight years, she collaborated with the Master in Communication Design course at the Politecnico di Milano. She joined the faculty of Domus Academy in 2016. She is the program leader of the Master’s Programmes in Visual Brand Design and Business Design.
