The Bachelor of Arts in Design Management combines design thinking, business strategy and entrepreneurship to prepare students for roles at the intersection of creativity, innovation and management.

Through lessons, workshops, labs, bootcamps, internships and professional learning experiences, students learn to turn ideas into tangible solutions, ventures and initiatives. The programme builds the ability to navigate complex challenges, connect different fields of knowledge and create meaningful value for businesses, organisations and society.

Target audience

The programme is addressed to candidates who have at least 12 years of schooling*.

All courses are taught in English. A high level of proficiency in the English language is required.

*In the calculation of the twelve years a pre-school year may be considered as long as the programme includes the teaching of reading and writing of the language of the Country and the first elements of arithmetic (Peru, Costa Rica and Venezuela).

Career Profiles

Graduates are prepared for careers at the intersection of design, business, innovation and communication. Professional opportunities include roles such as Business Designer, Design Strategist, Design Entrepreneur, Design Researcher, Product and Service Designer, Brand Designer and Venture Designer.

Depending on the chosen specialisation path, students can further tailor their career towards Business Design Management roles such as Design Manager and Organisational Designer; Entrepreneurship roles including Start-up Founder and Venture Designer; or Marketing and Communication roles such as Strategic Brand Designer, Brand Strategist, Creative Strategist and Art Director.

In the first year, students build a solid foundation in design and business, learning to connect creative thinking with an understanding of markets, materials and production.

Courses such as Design Methodology and Process, Drawing and Prototyping, and 3D Modelling and Rendering develop core design skills, while Marketing and Communication, Innovation by Design and Business Design introduce strategic perspectives. Product Design, Evolution of Design Industry, Materials and Production Processes and Innovative Materials broaden their understanding of how ideas move from concept to viable solutions.

In the second year, students expand their practice by combining design management, digital tools and strategic thinking. Courses such as Interior Design, Design Management, Digital Fabrication, Digital Modeling Tools & Techniques and Contemporary Design Practices strengthen their ability to work across disciplines and technologies.

Specialisation courses including Design Leadership, Entrepreneurial Mindset, Creative Direction, Strategic Branding, Envisioning Scenarios, Trend Forecasting, Interactive Media and Generative AI help students define a more individual and forward-looking design approach.

In the third year, students deepen their chosen direction and prepare for professional practice by addressing design through cultural, organisational, digital and sustainable perspectives.

Courses such as Cultural Anthropology for Design, Designing Future-ready Organizations, Designing Creative Ventures, Marketing and Communication Strategies, Sustainable Materials and Processes, Designing Interfaces, Urban Systems and UX and Service Design support advanced, integrated thinking. Personal Branding and Thought Leadership, Internship/Project Learning Experience, Thesis Workshop, Thesis Tutoring and the Final Project complete the transition toward independent professional practice.

The Design Business Management specialisation explores how design can support business management, shape organisational culture and drive strategic change. Students learn how design-led approaches can strengthen leadership, foster collaboration and help organisations respond to market, societal and economic shifts. The path develops the ability to manage complexity, align strategic and operational goals, and support resilient, future-oriented organisations.

ENTREPRENEURSHIP

The Entrepreneurship specialisation focuses on creating and growing new ventures through design-led thinking. The path builds the skills to structure sustainable initiatives, launch viable enterprises, and establish or manage design studios and independent professional practices.

Marketing and Communication
MARKETING AND COMMUNICATION

The Marketing and Communication specialisation explores how brands build relevance, express values and create a distinctive presence in competitive markets. Students examine the relationship between brand identity, culture and audience perception, learning how creative direction, communication and marketing shape coherent brand experiences. The path develops skills in positioning, brand narratives and meaningful connections between organisations, products, services and audiences.
