  • Interpret visual, cultural, and contextual references to create meaningful communication systems across media and audiences.
  • Build coherent visual systems integrating typography, imagery, composition, motion, and interaction.
  • Develop critical awareness of contemporary visual cultures, media, and technologies.

Career Profiles

Graduates are prepared for a wide range of careers in communication and visual design, working across branding, editorial, digital products, campaigns, information design, and creative direction.

Career opportunities include roles such as Communication Designer, Graphic Designer, Brand Designer, Art Director, Campaign Designer, UI Designer, and Information Designer, within design studios, agencies, cultural organisations, companies, and multidisciplinary creative teams.

The first year introduces the foundations of communication design through the study of visual culture and the ways in which images, texts and symbols create meaning. At the same time, students learn the principles of the design process and develop the skills required to represent, design and produce communication artefacts, beginning with graphic composition, typography and creative writing.

The programme integrates the technological dimension of design through computer graphics, digital imaging and modelling tools, providing students with the practical foundations needed to translate ideas and concepts into effective visual solutions. Initial projects focusing on visual identity and concept development enable students to connect critical thinking, creativity and practical execution.

In the second year, students broaden their ability to design communication systems by engaging with key contemporary forms of expression, media and contexts. Alongside a deeper exploration of design processes and media dynamics, the programme introduces specialist skills in editorial, audiovisual, digital and experience design, enabling students to create user-centred content, interfaces and experiences.

Students also begin to specialise through pathways in brand identity design, art direction or visual design, integrating strategic, narrative and technological perspectives. The year is completed by an exploration of emerging technologies and the growing role of artificial intelligence in creative and design processes, fostering a critical awareness of the changes reshaping contemporary communication practice.

The third year focuses on consolidating an advanced design perspective and defining an individual professional direction. Students undertake more complex projects in which research, strategy, creativity and design development converge. Through their chosen specialisms, they explore different approaches to interpreting and designing communication, working on brands, integrated campaigns, design systems and digital experiences, with increasing attention to the strategic, relational and technological dimensions of design.

The programme culminates in a dissertation and final project, providing students with the opportunity to demonstrate independence, critical maturity and the ability to develop complete and meaningful projects.
