The Course

Interior design deeply considers the kinds of relationships, activities, and habits that a space will support. In the Master in Interior & Living Design, you will collaborate with your international peers and company professionals on projects that re-invent the interior and living domains. With cultural, social, and practical concerns in mind, you will examine materials, furniture, lighting, and emerging technologies as you plan new and innovative spaces.

Who Should Apply

The program is addressed to candidates who have a first-level degree and/or professional experience in interior design, product design, architecture, engineering, visual arts, or other related disciplines, who wish to take their careers to the next level in the field of interior design.

The Master in Interior & Living Design program is workshop-based, supported by seminars, lectures, tutorials, and fieldwork. Industry professionals, the program leader, and project leaders will guide you via individual coaching and mentorship.

The program consists of four customizable course/workshop modules, followed by a professional experience period and a final portfolio presentation.

Courses

Coursework focuses on exploring the languages and values of the contemporary interior design world, analyzing user behavior in built environments, developing skills with visualization and graphic rendering, branding your own work, and more.

Workshops

Guided by industry professionals and faculty project leaders, you will work with leading companies on practical projects such as developing concepts for home interior design, business and retail spaces, and public environments.

Professional Experience

To gain real experience working in your field, you will choose from an internship at a company site, a work project on campus in collaboration with a company, or an entrepreneurship module. In each case, you will benefit from mentorship, an inside perspective on your field, and valuable career connections.

Aoi Hasegawa

Your Program Leader

Aoi Hasegawa

After earning bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Architecture and Building Science at Tokyo Metropolitan University, Aoi Hasegawa launched her career as a set designer at Fuji Television Network in Tokyo, where she designed sets for Japanese and international musical acts. In 2005, Aoi moved to Milan and earned a second master’s degree at Domus Academy.

Since 2006, she has worked with Domus Academy, first as a project assistant and tutor and now as program leader of the Master in Interior & Living Design course. She also collaborates professionally with various companies and studios in the fields of product, interior, and strategy design.

Each one-year Academic Master’s program (60 ECTS) at Domus Academy involves the following costs, in addition to a € 520 diploma fee, which must be paid at least one week before the course start date. The Academic Master’s diploma is recognized by MIUR and awarded by NABA.
