LED – light exhibition design
DESIGN LIGHTS THE CITY
The City of Milan asked the Creative Excellence to décor the metropolis with lights: young talents and famous designers will turn the City into an open-air stage with installations, exhibitions, works of Art and Design.
From May 26th to May 30th, 30 selected projects developed by students from the most prestigious Design school of the City - NABA, Domus Academy, IED, Politecnico di Milano Faculty of Design, SPD - will be on show. The LED competition, launched by the Municipality of Milan, intends to gather creative ideas that can be turned into real projects to dress the city during Christmas time 2009 with installations, exhibitions, works of art and works of Interior Design. Objectives: enhance the talent of young Italian and International designers, promote creativity and innovation and encourage the sharing of public spaces in full respect of the environment.
The Led exhibition hosts the winning projects of the competition together with the works of famous designers not presented in the official competition. These projects show a new vision of urban landscape, from city centre to suburbs, changing the look of streets, squares, monuments, buildings and parks through lighting.
From the heart of the City to off-centre districts, the works of young talents and renown designers intend to show how lighting can contribute to the improvement of urban and landscape design, enhancing architecture and changing the perception of public spaces.
