Modernism, design culture and the fair’s markets: an evening with prominent Gallerist Rossella Colombari

On Thursday September 28, Domus Academy will welcome gallerist Rossella Colombari, point of reference of the Design world for taste and flair, founder of the eponymous Galleria Rossella Colombari in Milan. The conference is part of the Strategic Brand Management workshop in collaboration with Artemest.

Rossella Colombari was born and grew up in Torino, in one of the oldest antique dealer families in Italy. In her 20s she founded her first gallery in her hometown with her sister Paola. Then Milan, where she opened in 1991.

Galleria Rossella Colombari researches and deals with XX Century Italian design pieces, from Gio Ponti to Ico Parisi, Joe Colombo and Ettore Sottsass. Names that have made the history of culture and design, with unique pieces of artworks. Private international collectors and collaborations with institutions all over the world, including Musée D’Orsay in Paris and Victoria & Albert Museum in London. In addition, the Galleria participates in the most important international art fairs such as the Biennale of Montecarlo, Miami Design / Basel and the London PAD.

Rossella Colombari will tell us about her rich and deep professional expertise, investigating the following themes:

– the birth of Modernism collectors from the 80s till now

– today and globalization

– Modernism in the financial world

– The international fairs and their cultural and entrepreneurial function

Marie Pierre Schickel, Business Cluster Head and Program Leader of the Master in Luxury Brand Management Domus Academy, will introduce the lecture. The talk is curated by Caterina Lunghi, journalist, Domus Academy Lecturer and Project Leader.
