Metaphysical Club. “Didactics as testbed of the future, a discussion” a talk with Manfredo Di Robilant
On Tuesday, October 13th Manfredo Di Robilant, architect and member of the Metaphysical Club, will launch a relevant as well as urgent theme of discussion linking design and education today: should design be an activity for people specifically trained for it, or could anybody be a designer, at least of her/his own daily life spaces and objects? Should design be mostly carried on through drawings and images, or through texts and words? Should design be more about utilitarian needs or about symbolical programs?
Drawing from themes and episodes from two seminal schools of the 1960s and 1970s, the school of architecture of Florence and the school of the Architectural Association in London, the talk will question what the core of a (small) school of design, such as Domus Academy, might be in the current condition.
