An integrated vision, the direct combination of design, narration, graphics, identity research, is crucial when it comes to competing in terms of promotion and the reasoning behind the product or service. Branding starts with the understanding of the values of a company and culminates in the ability to visualize a meaningful story with the right tone of voice while building a long-term relationship with the public.

The Master in Visual Brand Design program focuses on the analysis of user needs to create integrated visions and narrations that will catch the attention of selected audiences, engage them through all touch-points with a company. Students will be prepared to identify the company’s core philosophy, cultivate a deep understanding of their products and services, juggle with different marketing techniques, and design innovative ways to communicate its values to the customers through physical, digital and social media.

Audience

The program is addressed to candidates who have a first-level degree and/or professional experience in Visual and Graphic Design, Product Design, Communication. The program is also open to candidates who hold a degree or diploma in Marketing and Humanities, or equivalent, if they are motivated by a sound research interest towards the program’s topics and a strong portfolio.

Outcome

The Master in Visual Brand Design aims to form effective, dynamic and versatile Visual Brand Designers and Brand Managers who are open to visionary innovations. Graduates can find employment and freelance opportunities with small, medium and large organizations in the fields of fashion, design, advertising, traditional and Digital Media, Service Companies and Public Administration.

Program

The Master in Visual Brand Design program is workshop-based, supported by seminars, lectures, tutorials, and fieldwork. Industry professionals, the program leader, and project leaders guide students via individual coaching and project mentorship.

Faculty

The course leader of the Master in Visual Brand Design is Elisa Chiodo.

Elisa ChiodoElisa Chiodo is a visual designer with an experience that ranges from projects with agencies to teaching and academic research.

After graduating in Communication Design in 2008, she received her Ph.D. cum Laude in 2013 at the School of Design in the Politecnico di Milano. During her Ph.D. internship Elisa had the opportunity to work at the MobileLife Research Centre in the Stockholm University and at the metaLab in Harvard University. She presented her research and didactic results in several conferences and publications.

For more than eight years Elisa collaborated with the Master Degree course in Communication Design at the Politecnico di Milano. Her interests are in designing systems and in innovative multimedia languages able to engage users. Apart from this, Elisa works for several communication agencies as a freelance consultant specializing in concept, development and management of communication projects that are able to offer strong and engaging brand experiences.

During her training and professional career she had the opportunity to learn techniques, languages and research methods in order to design different types of artifacts and communication devices: from the fundamental visual tools to interactive platforms and narrative spaces. Elisa firmly believes that design activity should be dynamic and capable of taking input from the environment and the society in which we live with the purpose of developing innovative solutions: Design is curiosity, hybridization, observation and collaboration.

The Master in Visual Brand Design program relies on the collaboration of a network of visiting professors, designers, and company representatives, coming from various sectors of industry, to lead hands-on workshops and involve students in international initiatives.
