Congratulations to our students!
We are delighted to announce that students Sruthi Yathindradas, Bingyi Tian, Jiawen Lian and Jyothsna Joshi won the prestigious A’Design Award for the Social Design category, with their project Flo Underwater Plastic Collector. Flo is an underwater plastic trash collector in the shape of a fish. This futuristic toy engages the audience while educating them about pollution and finding real time solutions to this relevant problem. Students worked under the guidance of Lorenzo Bustillos, Marta Alves e Emmanuel Calderon.
Additionally, we would like to congratulate Master in Product Design alumnus Haoxiang Hu, who won the Bronze A’Design Award for the Digital and Electronic Devices Design Category. The young designer’s project, Mempbox, is a set-top box inspired by Memphis style and its colorful, bright and innovative pieces of furniture. Existing set-top boxes only have a functional output role and are manufactured with low-priced finishing materials, so most of users put them in a place out of range of vision. On the contrary, thanks to its bright colors and modern design, Mempbox fits well into many contemporary living spaces.
The A’Design Award and Competition aims at highlighting, advertising and advocating good design, designers and design oriented companies. The award-winning products and designs are highlighted to the international public via the A’ Design Award Gala-Night and Exhibition in Italy and they are communicated to all relevant press across the world.
