One of the most exciting aspects of your Domus Academy education is the opportunity to participate in real-world projects with international and Italian companies.

Every master’s program features four hands-on workshops, plus an Professional Experience.

“Learning by designing” is a revolutionary approach that Domus Academy has cultivated over decades of partnering with large and small companies, studios, consultancies, cultural institutions, magazines, and advertising agencies. To date, Domus Academy students have worked with more than 250 Italian and international companies.

Workshops and internships are a chance for you to apply the techniques you learn in class to a relevant company project—and make industry connections that could help launch your career. They are one reason why 92% of our graduates are working one year after graduation, according to a survey conducted by the third-party research firm Ipsos Observer.

Hands-on Workshops with Brands

Each workshop will allow you to work on a real-life brief presented by a leading brand, studio or consultancy.

During each five-week workshop, you will work solo or in multicultural teams with your peers, collaborating on project design and sharing ideas and experience. You will meet regularly with faculty for project reviews. To support the workshop, faculty and industry professionals give lectures and present case studies to broaden your knowledge about relevant design topics. Each workshop includes:

  • The launch. A company representative or Domus Academy project leader launches a creative brief about a real design or fashion challenge.
  • The intermediate review. Company/design studio representatives review your project halfway through the session and offer guidance on your approach.
  • The final presentation. At the conclusion of your project, you present your project to faculty and to company/design studio representatives and get feedback on your ideas and performance.

Professional Experience

Domus Academy’s entrepreneurial approach allows students to gain the Professional Experience they need. Our unique offering enhances students’ personal and professional expertise and network, empowering their skills, vision and values. You will have the opportunity to be addressed to the most suitable job immersion amongst our very specific Professional Experiences:

•    Internship: while working for a company, you will be able to develop assignments on real projects directly on the field.
•    Field Learning Experience: as a consultant, you will have the chance to collaborate and carry out a real project, for a company, supervised by a project leader.
•    Entrepreneur Experience: If being an entrepreneur is your vision, Domus Academy will sustain your choice providing mentoring support and developing your business and managerial skills, thanks to a practical and theoretical approach.

You will be mentored on a step-by-step basis, get an inside perspective on how your industry of choice works and make valuable connections that will further your career.
Non-EU students are eligible to participate in a Professional Experience and can extend their permit of stay to work in Italy for up to one year after degree completion.

Scholarships and Contests

Several of our partner companies offer scholarships to prospective students of Domus Academy students. For current students, companies host contests, typically asking for finished projects along a specified theme. The winners receive funding toward their Domus Academy education or other prizes. Recruiting Days

Domus Academy’s Career and Placement Office organizes recruiting sessions on campus and at company locations. These sessions are a chance for students to form relationships with companies in sectors of fashion, design, and industry, such as:

Domus Academy, together with NABA, has launched C-Park, a project for companies, institutions and research agencies.

C-Park is a creative park, a multidisciplinary project laboratory, an innovation and experimentation hub able to support their partners in project services. C-Park will provide analysis and research in the fields of design, business design, architecture, communication, graphics, fashion media and visual arts.


In addition C-Park also offers the possibility to develop creative research on specific themes or answer briefs thanks to the creation of dedicated work groups with high innovation potential and a high level of professional excellence within their own creative community.
